Date: April 7, 2007 (125 th Anniversary of Jesse James’ death).
Event: Farm Spring Black Powder Shoot

Event: Fort D Days
Location: Fort D Historic Site; Cape Girardeau, MO (Fort D Historic Site is located on locust St; at he the Sprigg St and Missouri State Hwy 74 intersection, turn south on Sprigg St, travel 4 blocks and turn left on Locust St)

Description:
For the four years of the Civil War, Fort D protected the city of Cape Girardeau from attack. Again this year the guns will roar, and the Union flag will fly over the original earthen walls of the fort. Join the Union Turner Brigade, local “militia”, and their families as they bring historic Fort D back to life with a Civil War encampment featuring living history demonstrations, food, live music, and live cannon fire. Admission to the weekend of fun is free!

Event: Re-creation of Sanitary Fair
Location: Battle of Lexington State Historic Site

Description :
These fairs were held during the war to raise money and gather supplies for wounded soldiers in hospitals or in the field. They were similar to church bazaars. Free admission.

Event: Railroad robbery re-enactment
Location: Miniature railroad site at Rothwell Park, Moberly

Description:
Confederate partisans, followed a wagon from Fayette to Huntsville to Allen (now Moberly). Then “robbed” the train at Allen, then returning the funds to the Fayette Bank. Col. John Poindexter was the leader of the group.


SEPTEMBER

Event: Piano Recital

Description:
Piano recital by pianist Spencer Huston of the University of Missouri, Kansas City Music Conservancy. Mr. Huston will play Civil War era music on the square grand piano in the Andersons House. Reservations will be needed in advance. Free admission.

OCTOBER

Date: Oct. 19-21, 2007
Event: 2007 Porter’s Raid and Palmyra Massacre Re-enactment
Location: Flower City Park & Old Marion County Jail, Palmyra

Description:
Sixth annual re-enactment of Porter’s Raid. Encampment is at Flower City Park with re-enactment events centered around the restored 1858 Old Marion County Jail, the actual site of Porter’s Raid. This is also where the 10 prisoners were kept before being executed in what is known as the infamous “Palmyra Massacre.” The three-day event includes north-south battle at the park, living history demonstrations, jail tours, musical jam sessions, parade, first person contest, ladies afternoon tea, medical demonstrations, battles, military ball, night cannon firings, and other events yet to be announced.


DECEMBER

Event: Shot, Shell and Christmas
Location: Anderson House, Lexington

Description:
Friends of the Anderson house and Missouri Medical Brigade will interpret the Anderson House as a field hospital, which it was during the Civil War. The event will have a Christmas theme, with the house decorated in a simple manner with folks from Lexington visiting…bringing food, music and comfort to the wounded. Admission charge.
